- All financial aspects, particularly review and interrogation of monthly management accounts, annual financial statement and, cashflow forecasts, etc.

- Legal review including lease agreements, supplier/customer agreements, banking facilities, acquisition agreements, intellectual property, etc. I don’t replace your legal advisor but can offer insight as to the commercial and financial aspects of such transactions and documents.

My problem-solving skills – and grey hair – have been developed from years of being in the trenches, including the following:
- At EY. I spent 17 years in corporate audit and the last 10 in corporate finance, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, listings, and inward investment.
- With the Metcash Trading group, initially as CFO of the Southern African group and thereafter as CFO for the entire operation.
- As a financial consultant to SME organisations.
- With a direct selling company which achieved turnover growth from R100-million to over R350-million during the period, first as CFO and thereafter, as Chief Commercial and Legal Officer.
